The Employee Is Leaving. Did the AI Get What You Think It Got?
Companies globally are moving to capture employee knowledge in AI agents before restructuring. The practice is technically feasible — the raw material already exists in your collaboration platforms. The legal and governance requirements are a different matter. Most organizations have not identified a lawful basis for the processing, have not conducted a privacy impact assessment, and are restructuring on the assumption that the AI contains what the employee knew. That assumption is structurally incomplete — and once the employee is gone, the gap cannot be audited.
